Technical stuff: I’m busy as allll get out, but it’s all awesome. I have some classes in a classroom: Music Theory, Ear Training, Communication, Music Technology, Theology of Worship, Songwriting, and Old Testament survey. All of that leads to lots of reading (not to mention 8 chapters of scripture a day) and homework..
Then I also have private lessons on guitar and voice (which means lots of practice on those), and class labs in both of those too. On top of that, the staff is in the process of dividing us into ensembles who we’ll play with for the rest of the term. So… phew! But the staff is so legit and helpful, and the OE class of ’10 is awesome. Yes, I have friends ;) haha. 37 to be exact! And the church body/ church services and everything are always such a blessing. I sat in on a youth service last week too… we’ll see what happens with that!
Spiritual Stuff: So already, God has shown me so much. The first week of school the staff provided worship sets for us every morning, and it was such a blessed time. For one, it was so incredible to spend such edifying time in intimate and reverent worship with almost total strangers at that point, but still feel like they were my family. And then God goes “*BONK* because they are your family!” …oh right. And by now, we’re all friends and it’s sweet. Also, I realized on day 1 that I had previously had a totally wrong attitude about coming…essentially that “yeah God better have some really awesome stuff coming my way from all this stuff since He’s called me down here and I have to miss out on lots of opportunities for stuff back home..” ummm wrong. Haha. God slapped me in the face hard with that one... I’m here for reasons beyond my comprehension and it is 100% a privilege that I am here… the opportunities and resources before me here are insane. So needless to say… now I’m really grateful to be here. :)
I would go into further detail but therein lies the temptation for you to stop reading because it’s too long and blah blah. So I’ll try and just stay on top of this to get the most detail possible. OH! Here’s a big deal: Charlie Hall came on Friday to play a show, and he hung out with us the whole day and taught us and stuff! Its was incredible. Be jealous. ;)
I miss home for sure… but I’m really doing great. Keep me and the rest of my class in prayer, as the enemy isn’t too pleased with what we’re doing…and it we can’t afford to lose any focus/camaraderie! Um…thanks for caring about my life and suchlike.
